Light Installation “Eclipse” by lichterloh
Collaborating on artistic projects is always a rewarding experience, and “Eclipse” was no exception. This minimalist animated light sculpture, installed at a waterfall in Bad Gastein, posed unique challenges due to its location and extreme environmental conditions, especially during winter.
Our initial test setups were quickly encased in ice, underscoring the need for resilient systems. To withstand these conditions, we upgraded all components to IP67 and rigorously tested them in our studio before on-site installation. Additionally, we developed custom LED strips for the project, which featured extraordinary lengths of 9.70 meters and a 50% higher LED density than standard strips, meeting the high artistic and technical demands of the project.
Despite the challenging environment, the installation went smoothly, and the sculpture has been operating flawlessly, achieving its goal of merging art and nature in a powerful visual statement.
Challenge: Achieve superior build quality to meet the artist’s vision while ensuring durability in extreme conditions.
Learning: Meticulous planning and testing are essential for success in demanding environments.
